Married to Shelly (nee Culligan), originally from Belledune, NB, St FX University nursing graduate. She has worked with premature infants and children at the Grace Maternity /IWK hospitals for 25+ years.

They have two children, Kate and Colin, graduates of C P Allen High School (Bedford, NS) and St FX University.

Award-winning educator and community volunteer with strong business experience.
Currently a faculty member within the business programs at the Nova Scotia Community College and a part time faculty member at Dalhousie, Saint Mary's and Mount St. Vincent Universities where he teaches a variety of business courses.

Prior to joining NSCC in 1998, McHugh had a strong corporate background working at Corporate Communications Limited (now Colour), Maritime Life, Shandwick International and Information Technology Institute (ITI)

Regularly interviewed by media regarding business news or trends.
Consults for many organizations throughout the years with the majority of this work done for small to medium sized enterprises and many not-for-profit organizations.
A native of Grand Falls-Windsor, NL, Ed was educated at St. Michael's High School, St FX University (BA) and The Ivey School of Business, The University of Western Ontario (MBA) where he was Class President and Valedictorian at all three institutions.
